Your Responsibilities
Clinical oncology involves treatment, follow-up, and research on cancer diseases.
As a professor, you will be active within the research community, participate in the department's activities such as seminars and workshops, engage in research projects, communicate results through scientific publications, and contribute to attracting external research funding.
Cancer research at Linköping University (LiU) has shown positive development in recent years. As a professor in clinical oncology, we expect you to strengthen clinical research in oncology and establish your own research group at Linköping University. We hope your research complements and builds upon existing research in oncology, with a particular focus on creating synergies and harmonizing with current research leaders/research while promoting collaborations with existing strong research environments at LiU. Establish a clear connection between preclinical research environments and clinical practice. You are expected to contribute to establishing and developing a group/research environment in clinical oncology, where several research leaders can operate and where younger researchers can receive support in their career development. As a professor, you will teach at both undergraduate and advanced levels in Swedish and/or English and supervise students in various programs within the medical faculty. The work may include administrative tasks such as course design, course responsibility, and examination.
You actively contribute to the university's development work. You contribute to collaboration, which is an integral part of the university's research and education mission.

- Collaboration in education occurs by planning, organizing, and delivering quality education in interaction with actors from the surrounding community.
The position may also involve administrative duties, such as departmental service or clinical leadership roles. We encourage you to participate in and show interest in leadership assignments.
Your work includes following developments nationally and internationally within your field and the societal developments that are relevant to your work.
At the medical faculty, student-active teaching methods are applied.
You will be clinically active at the Oncology Clinic within Region Östergötland. Together with the head of the Oncology Clinic, strategically create conditions for a strong university hospital unit. Continue the work of developing the Linköping Comprehensive Cancer Center through regional, national, and international collaborations.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has demonstrated both scientific and pedagogical competence.
For this position, special emphasis will be placed on scientific competence.
Regarding scientific competence, the following will be assessed: The requirement for the position is that you are a specialist physician in oncology and have an established and active research line in oncology with the potential to attract external research funding. Particularly meritorious is having documented experience of obtaining grants from major funders. You should have experience in building attractive research environments – engaging and motivating other researchers to advance the research environment. This is demonstrated through good leadership skills, collaborative ability, and translational interest. Be prepared to establish yourself in Linköping and actively contribute to the development of the research environment in oncology at the university in collaboration with Region Östergötland. It is advantageous if you have shown strategic leadership in academic research, for example through research programs, institutional collaboration, or larger research platforms. Contribute complementary skills to existing research in oncology and possibly hematology at LiU. Demonstrated ability to create and maintain national and international collaborations both in research and clinical settings.
Regarding pedagogical competence, the following will be assessed: The requirement for the position is that you have contributed to teaching and taught at both undergraduate and advanced levels in the subject area. Experience in planning, implementing, evaluating, reflecting on, and developing teaching, deepening and broadening your knowledge and skills both subject-wise and didactically and pedagogically, leading and developing pedagogical activities, collaborating collegially, and engaging with the surrounding community is meritorious.
Regarding collaboration, the following will be assessed: documented competence in collaboration within clinical practice and research. Particularly meritorious for this position is work with educational, clinical, and research initiatives similar to Linköping Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Other skills that will be assessed for this position include clinical experience and competence, as well as any other skills invoked within clinical oncology.
As teaching and/or research occurs in both Swedish and English, you must demonstrate the ability to teach and/or conduct research in both languages.
You are flexible and able to navigate between different types of pedagogical, clinical, and scientific contexts. You share knowledge and contribute to the professional development of your work group, the organization, and the university/region's collegial working methods and social community. Being present and active is essential for you to perform your tasks in the best way and thrive in the work community.
